ABSTRACT
The study examined the relationship between competence planning and organizational resilience of quoted Oil and Gas Sector in South-South Nigeria. The measures of organizational resilience, which was the criterion variable were, situation awareness keystone vulnerability management and adaptive capacity. The study adopted a correlational survey research design in its investigation of the variables. Primary data was generated through well-structured questionnaire. Data generated and presented were analyzed using inferential statistical technique. The hypotheses were tested using the Spearman’s Ranking Correlation Coefficient at 99% confidence interval and 0.05 level of significance to determine the strength and weaknesses of the relationship between the variables under study. Empirical findings revealed that there is a positive and significant relationship between competence planning and organizational resilience. It observed on the findings that competence planning significantly influence organizational resilience. Therefore, in conclusion the study asserts that competence planning has a strong influence on organizational resilience in the quoted oil and gas companies in South-South, Nigeria. The study recommends that organizations should ensure that prospective and existing employees possess the right competences. Through competence planning which involve mapping, skill gap analysis personal development plan, organizations should identify the ideal behaviour as well as individual skills needed in the organization and this will not only increase their ability to understand and perceive the entire operating environment, it will help the organizations gather and utilize information for present and future wellbeing.
